It is the first day of the short trek, done on its own. You leave Cusco before dawn, take the train from Ollantaytambo to Km 104, cross the Urubamba and climb for three to four hours past Wiñay Wayna to the Sun Gate. From there you walk down to the citadel, take the bus to Aguas Calientes and the evening train back. The day is long: about fourteen hours from the hotel door to the hotel door.
Which part of the citadel you see differs by listing: one names circuit 1, the classic panoramic view; another describes the upper terrace. The guided circuit on the second morning of a two-day trek is what you give up.

The walking is identical. The difference is what happens after the Sun Gate.
